The cold temperatures have done their job of providing for a pretty good layer of ice. I’ve been told that there is 6 inches or more in the good areas although I’ve seen some areas of open water yet. Make sure to be careful when going out on the ice, especially on the river. There have been some anglers targeting crappie and bluegill in the back waters along with a few fishermen who are catching walleye on the river. I hope to get out ice fishing this week and tell you more. Last night in the Hahn-A-Lula we talked with some snowmobilers who had come across the west end of Lake Poygan and the trail groomer was out. That’s good news for those who like to ride and those who sell snowmobiles. A good solid base of snow early in the season can make for good trails. Keep in touch!
