Lots of slush moving. I’m afraid that the cold snap is going to close the river to boat traffic. Back waters are starting to ice up. Here comes ice time.

I’ve heard all sorts of reports.  From few crappies to 29 nice ones.  Both reports came from the same spot a day apart.  Walleye fishing is improving with reports of some limits and bunches of small fish in between.  The area below Boom Island has been popular and anglers are catching some in New London too.  Things should improve as the water cools.  Water levels are dropping so I hope there is some rain in the forecast.

Wasn’t hot and heavy, but Kevin and I caught a few keepers on Sunday and Monday.  Hear lots of reports of smallmouth bass biting in the New London area.  PLEASE RELEASE ANY SMALLMOUTH BASS YOU CATCH!!!!!

Water levels have risen.  That should draw some fish in to the system and create some activity as the water cools.  Crappie have also responded and are biting pretty well most days according to some people I know who have been fishing them.  I’ll be out scouting over the weekend so I should have a better idea on the walleye bite.

LOTS of small walleye biting from Orihula to the mouth.  Some keepers mixed in too, but mostly small fish and white bass.  The white bass are stacked up in small areas.  I fished Monday and caught quite a few right on the drop to the river channel below the Rat River.  The area they were in was no bigger the my living room.  I found a few bigger walleye in the deeper water below them.

Crappie are biting well in the New London area as are smallmouth bass and a few walleye.  Lots of bait fish in the water, current coming up and temp gong down.  That’s all good for fishing.

Water levels have risen nicely and have cooled in to the upper 40’s.  That’s good for fishing as crappie, white bass and some walleye are being reported from the New London area and also from Fremont.  I hope things warm up a bit because there should be plenty of good fishing to be found with the next batch of stable weather.

Water levels in New London rose 6 inches from near record low’s.  Temps have settled around 55 and fishing is starting to get better.  Smallmouth bass have been active as fish start to come out of the tributaries and upper Wolf.  There continue to be some reports of walleye too.

In Fremont there have been some decent catches of white bass, some crappie and bluegill.  If you searched for pike, you might find a few.

PLEASE RELEASE ALL SMALLMOUTH BASS AND NORTHERN PIKE TO HELP PROTECT THE POTENTIAL THIS SYSTEM HAS FOR TROPHY CLASS FISH!!  Heck, the walleye, crappie, white bass and bluegill are better eating anyway.

Water temps have fallen below 60 which should be good for fishing.  Water levels have fallen, and are extremely low in the New London area, after rising a bit with the rain.  That should concentrate the fish in the deeper water.  Fish from the upper parts of the system could be filtering back down to the safety of that deeper water also.

Keep in touch as fall action should get better every day.  Crappie and some white bass continue to show up in the lower end of the system.  Some walleye are being reported from the New London area.

The crappie are starting to bite on the system as are a few white bass.  Low water in the New London area has limited the number of anglers but there should start to be some good catches of crappie and some walleye starting to show up.

The water levels have fallen and temperatures have risen, making fishing a bit tougher.  Still some reports of crappie being caught and some white bass from below Fremont.  Northern Pike could be active if you know where to look.
