Lake Poygan Heating Up, ICE BREAKER 7 UPDATE!

Fishing on Lake Poygan has been pretty good with limits of walleye and nice catches of white bass being reported quite commonly.  Weather conditions and traffic have played a role as the fish move around and change feeding moods, but generally fishing and ice conditions have been good.  Fishing on the river and in the backwaters has been fair with a few nice fish being caught.  Walleye on the river and northern pike, perch, crappie and a few bluegills in the back waters.  Local lakes have also been pretty good on some days.  Been hearing some reports of 15 inch crappies, but no one is saying where.

A friend of mine has a Fisher 170 Hawk FS for sale that has been garage kept, has LOW hours and is in beautiful condition.  It has a 90 HP Mercury outboard, Bimini top, custom cover,  Lowrance graph, GPS, marine radio, down-riggers, walk through windshield, 4 seats (two look like they’ve never been sat on), even the prop looks brand new.  The Yacht Club trailer has diamond plate and a folding tongue.  It’s maroon in color and is a great All Welded hull that is good for the big waters of the Winnebago system and Green Bay, yet not too big for the rivers.  AVERAGE selling price of this boat on the NADA site with a 75 HP motor is almost $8,000, you can but this VERY CLEAN & ABOVE AVERAGE garage kept beauty of a boat for $7,250, if you are fast enough.

Ice Making Time ~ Good Fishing Reported

This cold snap should help to improve ice conditions throughout the area.  For now fishing pressure has been heavy on the old river, Mill Bayou and other local areas where there has been access.  That is because the river itself continues to be unsafe for any kind of traffic and anglers can not get to the abundance of walleyes waiting for them.  Crappie, bluegill and perch have been being reported from numerous backwaters throughout the area from New London all the way to Winneconne where some anglers are venturing out on Lake Poygan and getting a few pike, panfish, white bass and walleye.  Once again, access will increase the number of reports and spread the fishermen out.
